Birth Story of Lord Shiva

Lord Shiva can successfully be described as the most complex God with varied powers. In similar fashion is the story of his birth. It is said that one day Lord Brahma and Vishnu were arguing about who among them is more superior and powerful. They both had different set of powers and thus the fight grew intense. At the same time out of nowhere a gigantic pillar appeared. The pillar had its roots and branches going beyond the limit of earth and sky. Both Brahma and Vishnu were befuddled.

Out of curiosity they both started looking for it either ends. Quickly Brahma emerged in the avatar of Goose and started flying upwards towards the sky. Vishnu then turned into boar and vigorously started digging the earth to reach the pillars end. Both of them returned after failing in their attempt and noticed Lord Shiva emerging from an opening in the pillar. Then the both realized the great powers of Shiva and gladly accepted that there even is a third power that rules the universe.
